My Training Philosophy
My philosophy as a fitness professional is that it is the journey, not the destination, that leads to improved health and well-being in a sustainable and meaningful way. I am inspired to support my clients by celebrating the small wins, fostering accountability, and embracing flexibility for life’s ups and downs. My goal is to create a supportive environment where each client can work to reach their goals and enjoy their time along the way.
I prioritize celebrating the small wins with my clients, reminding them of the progress they make week-by-week. This helps to keep motivation high and the focus on the joy of the journey, rather than the end goal. It can be difficult to recognize the changes that happen in day-to-day life. It is my responsibility to help my clients recognize these changes and celebrate them for what they are—achievements that, combined, lead to their bigger goals.
I believe that the path to long-term success is paved with consistent progress. In order to accomplish this there needs to be trust and accountability to oneself. I start each session with a series of questions that help hold clients accountable to themselves and keep their goals front of mind. It is my role to guide them towards their goals with flexibility, and support, fostering a sense of accountability that carries over to challenges in other areas of life.
Flexibility is a key aspect of my philosophy. Every day has its own challenges and opportunities, and I have evolved my style of training to accommodate the ever-changing nature of life. Rather than rigidly pre-planning every exercise, I mindfully adapt and tailor each session to meet my client's needs and circumstances day-by-day. I strive to understand my clients fully by listening and then incorporating their thoughts, feelings, and experiences into their programming. Life is unpredictable, and I embrace the need for adaptability, guiding my clients through the inevitable twists and turns with empathy and understanding.
When teaching new movement patterns, I have found that it works best to demonstrate each movement and then break it down into manageable cues, incorporating more complexity as each client's level of experience allows. Doing this has allowed me to offer the space to empower my clients to learn effectively and safely. I place emphasis on how movements feel, rather than how they look, which helps foster a deeper connection between the mind and body, promoting self-awareness and confidence. My goal in this is twofold: to help my clients overcome challenges and reach goals while working together, and to equip them with the tools and self-efficacy to navigate their independent journeys of health and well-being.
Through celebrating the wins, big and small, fostering accountability, embracing flexibility, I endeavor to not only help my clients achieve their immediate goals but also to equip them with the tools and confidence to navigate their health and fitness journey independently. Together, we embark on a path where it is the journey, rather than the destination that leads to lifelong, sustainable health and well-being.
